Commissioner Dahlkemper wanted to express a sincere thank you to all who have been involved in the effort to ensure that members of the community were housed to the best of our ability and had a safe warm place to be during the extreme cold weather. Commissioner Dahlkemper really believed that at the tip of the sphere for the County the County Manager Kate Newman worked closely with different departments across the county ranging from Open Space, Road and Bridge, Human Services and more. Commissioner Dahlkemper mentioned no matter how late or how early they were reaching out to Kate Newman she was always available to pick up and address immediate concerns that our partners may have. Commissioner Dahlkemper gave a huge shout out to Saint Bernadette Catholic Parish as well as the Lakewood United Methodist Church team they were the two groups that came together to provide overnight shelter for two evenings providing a safe warm place as well as hot meals. Commissioner Dahlkemper stated how truly grateful for everyone who was a part of this team. Commissioner Dahlkemper gave a shout out to the Sheriff’s department and the City of Lakewood Mayor Adam Paul who was also a part of the work within the last few days.

Commissioner Kerr: The legislative session is underway; several Commissioners from around the State were down there last Friday January 27th. To meet with legislators to let them know that County Commissioners and staff are very interested in bills that impact the County and will be keeping a close eye and will be encouraging our constituents to keep a very close eye on our legislature as well and to give them feedback on issues that impact the county. Commissioner Kerr mentioned that February is Black History Month, and the County will be fully celebrating Black History Month in Jefferson County. Commissioner Kerr also mentioned how in the Month of February the County also acknowledges World Cancer Day.

County Manager: Working from home had a whole new meaning this weekend, staff answered the phone at all times. The Fleet department helped with preparing the vans, Open Space with drivers and trailers, Road and Bridge with drivers, Facilities with security, Safety and Compliance with supplies and logistics. Mary Berg and Kat Douglas on her birthday working to coordinate with all the partners to serve the community. Shout out to everyone and hopes she didn't forget anyone.

County Attorney: No reports.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
