Commissioner Kraft-Tharp: Commissioner Kraft-Tharp had jury duty last week, and even though she was not called, it was an interesting experience. Commissioner Kraft-Tharp thanked the West Chamber for the Celebrate Jeffco event and congratulated the winners of their recognitions. Finally, the Jeffco League of Women Voters is having a virtual forum on Tuesday on the unhoused homeless issue here at Jefferson County, she will be one of the presenters as well as our Human Services Representative Kat Douglas.
Commissioner Dahlkemper: A special shout out to all the winners of the Celebrate Jeffco event on West Chamber, it was an incredible event in terms of community members and business leaders, we want to honor and recognize all of them. Another shout out for the volunteers with Jeffco Open Space who contributed more than 40,000 hours on effort to help with the trails, educate visitors and so much more. Also, Commissioner Dahlkemper wants to recognize the Jefferson County snowplows drivers who were featured on CBS 4 Channel recently, they are always making sure the community is safe during the snowstorms. She also mentioned the upcoming Telephone Town Hall on March 29th and she encourages the community to check the Jeffco website for more information. Finally, she mentioned the in-person Foothills Town Hall, and the topic will be Wildfire Risk Reduction on April 8th from 9am to 10:30am.
Commissioner Kerr: Commissioner Kerr also thanked the Commissioners for mentioning the Open Space and the awards. He mentioned that each award is made of Jefferson County fallen trees. The Economic Development Court EDC celebrated Jefferson County Awards on Friday, and Commissioner Kerr was glad to personally know all 3 people that were up for the Big Community Impact Legacy Award. He also thanked Commissioner Kraft-Tharp for presenting the Non-Profit Award to Friends of Foothills Animal Shelter. With it being President’s Day weekend, Commissioner Kerr wished well to former President Jimmy Carter, who has recently been admitted into hospice care. He is one of the Commissioner's heroes in politics as well as his personal life. Finally, he mentioned that his daughter spoke to the Channel 9 news about teen mental health.
